Safe and Affordable Housing for All Georgians

DCA's housing assistance programs provide resources for residents to access safe and affordable housing, including information on the CDC Protections for Tenants Facing Eviction for Nonpayment, and assistance for homebuyers and renters.

DCA's core businesses - safe and affordable housing, local government assistance, and community and economic development - reflect the diversity of our programs and drive our commitment to serving all of Georgia.

Each year, hundreds of millions of dollars are distributed through grants, tax credits, loans, and other resources to support a variety of mission-driven initiatives, from affordable housing to historic preservation to infrastructure enhancements.

Community and Economic Development

Comprehensive Local Government Assistance

DCA provides technical assistance and support to local governments to help them achieve their community development goals and improve infrastructure.

One of the key areas of focus for DCA is providing safe and affordable housing to Georgia residents. In 1996, the Governor and General Assembly merged the Georgia Housing and Finance Authority (GHFA) into DCA, making the job of providing safe and affordable housing a part of the agency's mission.

DCA offers a variety of resources for housing assistance, including the CDC Protections for Tenants Facing Eviction for Nonpayment. This resource provides information for tenants who may be at risk of eviction due to nonpayment during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Technical Assistance and Support

DCA provides technical assistance and support to local governments to help them achieve their community development goals and improve infrastructure.

Financial Assistance - DCA provides financial assistance to local governments for infrastructure improvements and other community development projects.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, DCA is also providing resources to support the health and well-being of Georgia residents. Free at-home COVID-19 tests are available, and individuals can find information on COVID-19 testing and vaccine sites in Georgia by county on the Georgia Department of Public Health website.

Additionally, the Georgia Emergency Management Assistance (GEMA) COVID-19 website provides updates and resources related to the pandemic.
